Visiting San Antonio and Celebrating Cinco De Mayo
Cinco de Mayo is deemed the Mexican national holiday of independence and is a widely celebrated cultural holiday in Texas. San Antonio holds many events during Cinco de Mayo, which is on May 5 and in downtown San Antonio's Market Square they hold a festival each year. You can see many attractions and musical entertainment, as well as shops that offer some great souvenirs and unique items. For another Cinco de Mayo celebration check out Plaza Guadalupe, they have some great music that last throughout the entire day, and there are plenty of activities to take part in for children and adults. This event doesn't cost anything, and is one of the most popular events for Cinco de Mayo in San Antonio.
If you appreciate dance go to the Memorial Library at St. Mary's University, home to a world renowned Latino folk dance organization. This group is popular through the whole state of Texas. San Antonio is a popular destination for tourists because of a wide variety of entertainment. The Riverwalk around San Antonio is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. Visitors from all over the region come to enjoy the Riverwalk which is located below street level, and it feels like you are a mile away from the hectic streets above. You can also take a boat ride on the River, which I feel is a great attraction and a "must do" on your list.
The Arneson River Theatre is spectacular because the River runs right in between the audience and the stage. Make sure you take the time check out a show when visiting San Antonio Texas.
