Nicaraguan Tourism
As a vacation spot, Nicaragua remains a pretty unknown to tourists, and this has presented a great occasion for environmentalists and nature fans to discover the country easily without the influence of crowds of travelers. The golden-white beaches of the Caribbean Ocean in the East and the gold sand beaches of the Pacific Ocean in the West, the pristine forests and tropical jungles that remain untouched, and the rugged splendor of volcanic mountains and crater lakes make this country a virtual gold mine of native beauty. Needless to say, the government, and now more travelers, are starting to uncover its unspoiled beauty too.
With Costa Rica on its southern border, Nicaragua has managed to keep under the radar for travel destinations. Currently, however, as Costa Rica turns out to be more and more flooded with travelers, more are searching for the peace and discreetness they used to experience there, and have found Nicaragua right next door. The locals greet foreigners with open arms, and the countryside and geography have not been shattered by large hotels and loud casino signs.
The government of Nicaragua has started to grasp the advantage of the pristine condition of their country, and are beginning to energetically promote it to the world as an ecotourism bonanza. Outdoor activities like hiking, biking, climbing, and camping have taken root in a major way at this point, and the substructure that's been set in motion to assist those tourists is still not large in scale or shape, retaining the "undiscovered country" idea.
