Enjoy State Parks of Texas in Hill Country
The hill country in Texas is perhaps one of the ideal places in the state to take pleasure in the outdoors if you like to hike and spend time with nature. For a minimum amount of money, you can devote a week or two camping at one of the many state parks in the area, and enjoy the entire outdoors you can stand. Hiking, biking, fishing, bird watching, and relaxing are just a few of the activities you can take pleasure in at a state park.
If you're not the "ultra-outdoorsy" type — you like being outdoors but you don't want to spend your nights cooped up in a tent or RV — then Inks State Park is a fantastic place to go. For the light adventurer, they offer air-conditioned cabins for rent so you can spend your days in the sun and your nights inside away from the bugs and humidity. The park is vast and beautiful, so you won't feel like you're missing out on anything if you stay here. It combines the best of both worlds, the modern day and the natural world.
For true hikers, Fredericksburg, Texas is most likely where you want to stay. This town is home to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, a park whose centerpiece is a big, pink granite mountain dome 1,800 feet tall entirely surrounded by vegetation at the base. The rock is filled with locations to hike and adventure, and the view from the top is gorgeous. The massive rock protruding up from the surface of the earth is a spectacle itself.
Kickapoo Caverns and Devil's Sink Hole are also good places to spend some time, and each is exceptional. Both offer a great deal of activities year-round for the entire family, and includes bike riding and fly-fishing lessons. Before choosing one or many parks, be sure to check them all out online and see which ones offer the amenities and activities that best suits your needs. The web pages are very distinct about what's allowed, what's offered, and what's nearby, so you'll know exactly what to expect when you get there.
