How To Make A Road Trip With Kids Fun
Sometimes, people avoid going on a road trip with their kids because they think it will be dreadful. However, with the proper advice, like what you are about to be provided with in this article, you can have an enjoyable road trip with your kids.
The number one thing you should do to make a road trip with children go smoothly is to bring things for them to do. Bring coloring books with crayons, a portable video game system, or whatever it is that you know will entertain them. Just like at home, children are less likely to get in trouble or complain when they are entertained. So ask them what they would like to bring with them.
Right before going on a trip, purchase a toy for your children. Do not let them play with it until you get in the car and begin your trip. Most children get bored easily, so if you buy them a new toy, they will be entertained as you drive. The toy does not have to be anything too expensive either.
If you have a portable DVD player, bring it with you for the trip. If you do not already have one, it is a good investment for your road trip. Once again, most children are more content when they are entertained. Pop in their favorite movie into the DVD player, and they are sure to be too busy to get bored or punchy.
Do not forget to pack your children's favorite snacks. Depending on where you are driving, rest stops may be far from away from each other. And nothing is worse than a child who is hungry. Pack their favorite fruits, cookies, or chips and be sure they are readily available so that you can grab them upon request.
Avoid giving your children too much to drink. Of course, you should not deprive them of fluids. On the other hand, if you let them drink too much, they are going to have to use the bathroom every five minutes. Allow them to have a few sips of a drink. If you know there will be a rest stop coming up, then let them go to town!
Even if you or your children are not hungry or need to use the bathroom, it would be wise to stop at every rest stop. Children cannot sit in one place for too long and it is not good for your health to do so either. You do not need to spend too much at east rest stop; a five minute break is sufficient.
You may want to play some word games with your children during your road trip. For example, the license plate game is one enjoyed by many children. Have them look at the license plates of the other cars on the road, telling them to find a license plate for as many states as possible.
As mentioned at the beginning of this article, many people do not want to bring their children on a road trip, thinking it will be a miserable trip. But, now that you have read this article, you are aware of how you can make a road trip with children exciting!
