Arrive Outback - Ayers Rock - Uluru Hike
Arrive Ayers Rock Airport or transfer in via other module. This afternoon join your guide to explore the most profound and culturally significant monolith in Australia in a small group tour. The tour will travel thorough the landscapes to the entrance of the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. From this point it is only a matter of minutes before the spectra of Uluru rises from the sand dunes to demonstrate its enormity and presence in this country. Our first step allows you a photographic opportunity of this amazing icon. With Uluru looming in front of you, your guide journeys toward the base. Walk with your guide to a place of tranquility.
As you drive around the base, your guide will take you to the entrance of Mutitjulu Waterhole, a semi-permanent watercourse nestled in the contours of Uluru. Here you will learn the Creation stories of Liru (poisonous snake) and Kuniya (python) as well as a number of other stories associated with other prominent Tjukurpa (Dreaming) stories. You will see the rock art of the ancients and learn how Uluru was, and still is, a significant location for teaching young Aboriginal people. We then adjourn to the new Talinguru Nyakunytjaku viewing area where you will observe an uninterrupted view of Uluru with Kata Tjuta in the background. Enjoy a refreshing drink and nibbles as you watch the sun set over Uluru.

Mt Connor Hike and Curtain Springs
Today’s tour offers a unique and exclusive experience to Mt Conner, located 100Km east of Uluru. This is the quintessential Aussie Outback experience. This fascinating tour will introduce you to life in the desert. Absorb the ambiance of the Red Centre without the crowds as we venture into an extraordinary environment by 4WD.
Mt Conner is situated on a vast, fully operational, privately owned cattle station, called Curtin Springs Station. While the dams on the property were constructed for watering cattle, here you will find the perfect natural habitat for red kangaroos and a vast array of birds and reptiles of the Red Centre. You will discover an ancient inland salt lake and learn about the European history of the region. While you enjoy a glass of sparkling wine, you will be captivated by the spectacular changing colours of sunset over Mt Conner before returning to relish a three-course outback dinner prepared by the cook at Curtin Springs Station.
Outback Ballooning, Kata Tjuta Hike and Sounds of Silence
Early morning am - dawn transfer (approx. 50 minutes) into the surrounding desert where the pilot will have the balloon ready for the spectacular pre-dawn inflation.
Once in the air the vastness of the Australian Outback punctuated by the magnificent Uluru will become apparent (flight approx. 30 minutes). Traditional owners look after the land over which the balloon will fly. It is outside the National Park and has never before been accessible to visitors without special permits. It is an area unchanged by humans with no cattle stations, no mining and only a couple of tiny bush tracks. The harshness of the land used by generations for hunting and gathering with a few rocky pinnacles, some sacred, will fire the imagination of life in the desert.
The balloon floats as a perfect viewing platform with no turbulence, vibration or noise - other than the occasional reassuring roar of the burner. After returning safely to this ancient land and some fun packing the balloon back into its bag there will be light refreshments accompanied by sparkling water or fruit juices. Alcohol is not permitted on Aboriginal lands. On completion of your flight your guide will then return to your accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort.
Mid afternoon you will travel to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to a place where unique flora and fauna thrive, Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Here your guide will reveal the many attributes of this diverse environment and describe the cultural significance of Kata Tjuta as a sacred Aboriginal men’s ceremonial site.
Arriving at Walpa Gorge you will hike between the mighty conglomerate domes and hear how these 36 domes that make up Kata Tjuta have evolved over millions of years. Take time to listen to the wind (Walpa) far above and view the scale of the rock walls that surround you. The spirituality of this amazing location embraces everyone who ventures here. Your guide will return you to your hotel in time to join the Sounds of Silence dinner.
Tonight, the Sounds of Silence tour for dinner under the stars – an experience not to be missed! Late afternoon, before dusk, at the Sounds of Silence experience you dine under the canopy of the desert night, while your very own storyteller shares tales as told in the stars.
Transfer to Ayers Rock airport. Continue to other parts of Australia.
