Cape Town City Tour |
Guests will now depart on an informative Cape Town city tour. Highlights of this tour included the SA Museum, Cape Castle and Table Mountain (Weather permitting).

South Africa Museum |

The South African Museum is a window on the world of natural history, showcasing the bounty of nature, both present and past. Exhibitions and dioramas display hundreds of different species – inhabitants of land, sea or air – enabling visitors to view, under a single roof, creatures as diverse as dinosaurs, mammals, coelacanths, bats or even the fossilized remains of species from 250 million years ago. In the popular Discovery Room, children can discover nature by touch, feel and interaction.

Cape Castle |

Built by the Dutch in 1666 after arrival, the Castle was erected as a 5 pointed star on the foreshore of Cape Town. It is today surrounded by a variety of other monuments and places of historical interest. The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving building in South Africa. Built between 1666 and 1679, this pentagonal fortification replaced a small clay and timber fort built by Commander Jan van Riebeeck in 1652 upon establishing a maritime replenishment station art the Cape of Good Hope for the Dutch East India Company, better known as the VOC (Verenigde Oos-Indische Compagnie). The Cape of Good Hope houses the regional headquarters of the South African Army in the Western Cape, the famous William Fehr Collection of historic artworks, the Castle Military Museum and ceremonial facilities for traditional Cape Regiments

Table Mountain |

Since the first person laid eyes on Table Mountain, it has exerted its powerful and charismatic pull, enchanting and drawing any and all who fall under its spell. The best views of Cape Town are seen from the top of Table Mountain. The Cableway summit is under 10 minutes and the cable car’s rotating floor ensures that all passengers have an aerial view of the city. Table Mountain is a sandstone plateau rising up above the Cape Flats. The top is approximately 3km wide, and at its highest point, Maclears Beacon, rises to 1085m. Over the centuries it has become one of South Africa's most famous landmarks. The steep cliffs and rocky outcrops of the mountain play home to a number of plants and animals. The mountain is home to approximately 1470 species of plants; more than the entire British Isles! Complimenting this vast array of flora is a stunning range of fauna, some, like the Table Mountain Ghost Frog, being found in no other place in the world. Weather Permitting

Full Day Cape Point Tour |
Guests will be met by their guide at the hotel (pick up time: 09:00). They will travel via the 12 Apostles and Hout Bay, as well as Chapmans Peak (dependant on the road being open) – one of the regions most dramatic mountain drives offering amazing panoramic views over the city and environs.

Chapman’s Peak Drive winds it way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay. Situated on the Atlantic Coast, at the south-western tip of South Africa, it is one of the most spectacular marine drives anywhere in the world. The 9km route, with its 114 curves, skirts the rocky coastline of Chapman's Peak, the 593m high southerly extension of Constantia Berg. The drive offers stunning 180° views over the ocean and mountains with Hout Bay in the distance.

Cape Point |

Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, established in 1939 to protect 7750 ha of indigenous flora and fauna. The reserve comes to an end at majestic Cape Point. Situated at the junction of two of earth's most contrasting water masses - the cold Benguela current on the West Coast and the warm Agulhas current on the East Coast, the Cape of Good Hope is popularly perceived as the meeting point of the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans. Guests will take the funicular to the vantage point from where they will be able to witness the “meeting of the two oceans”.

Lunch |
Afterwards continue to Simon’s Town where the group will enjoy lunch.

Boulders Beach |
Thereafter travel through the historic naval base of Simon's Town where guests will be able to visit a colony of African Penguins in their natural environment at Boulders Beach.

Boulders Beach is a sheltered beach made up of inlets between granite boulders, from which the name originated. It is located in the Cape Peninsula near Simon's Town towards Cape Point near Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is also commonly known as Boulders Bay. It is a popular tourist stop because of a colony of African Penguins which settled there in 1982. Boulders Beach forms part of the Table Mountain National Park. Although set in the midst of a residential area, it is one of the few sites where this vulnerable bird can be observed at close range, wandering freely in a protected natural environment. From just two breeding pairs in 1982, the penguin colony has grown to about 3000 in recent years. This is partly due to the reduction in commercial pelagic trawling in False Bay, which has increased the supply of pilchards and anchovy, which form part of the penguins' diet.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens |

These gardens are world-renowned for the beauty and diversity of the Cape flora it displays and for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. Kirstenbosch grows only indigenous South African plants. The estate covers 528 hectares and supports a diverse fynbos flora and natural forest. The cultivated garden (36 hectares) displays collections of South African plants, particularly those from the winter rainfall region of the country.

Stellenbosch consists of tree lined streets and historical architecture. Guests can explore the popular Dorp Street and Oom Samie se Winkel.

Hugeunot Museum /
At the Huguenot Memorial Museum in Franschhoek the story of the Huguenots is well documented. Here the Huguenot Memorial soars above perfectly manicured lawns and a calm pool of water. The religiously-inspired monument has three arches symbolising the Christian trinity, above which shines the sun. A female figure casts off the cloak of oppression and gazes into the future. Among the things to see in the Franschhoek museum are antique items of furniture brought in on trading ships from the East and items related to Huguenot church congregations and farming methods. Developments in Huguenot architecture are traced from early wooden homes, to clay, stone and eventually Dutch-influenced structures with gables.

Taal Monument /
The Taal monument, on Paarl rock, is one of the most famous Afrikaans monuments erected in South Africa and dedicated to the Afrikaans language. It was designed by the architect Jan van Wijk and inaugurated in 1975. The monument is shaped in several tall obelisks style columns erected on the granite of Paarl Rock. The monument, atop Paarl rock, is visible from a great distance as one approaches Paarl.
