Trip Overview:
The Cultural Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is rated among one the best trekking trips in Peru because of the exquisite beauty of the areas natural surroundings. A combination of Machu Picchu and the ancient area of Ollantaytambo provides a real off the beaten path adventure in Peru.

This Adventure Includes:
* Orientation meeting in Cusco (previous to departure date).
* Transfer put in and drops off at Ollantaytambo train station (first day and last day).
* All balance meals during the trekking (From Lunch of first day to Breakfast of last day),
including snacks.
* All common equipment gear: Two men mountain tent, mattress, kitchen dishes, kitchen

Group service every Monday and Wednesday. Minimum 3. Private service available any day. This is an alternate route to Machu Picchu and requires some basic hiking skills.

Days: 4

DAY 1:
Racca-Soccma-Piruchayoc.

Driving to the bridge of Pomatales from where we will hike 20 minutes to Visit the Inka temple of Chokekillka, the one is located in the side of a mountain over many terraces between two huge rocks. We will have an introduction into the Inka cosmovision and its relationship with the natural elements. After this visit we have a 10 minutes transfer from where we start our trekking to the community of Soccma,

After our picnic lunch we continue the trek up hill to the 100 mts waterfalls of Piruchayoc. We continue the hike over the waterfall to our first camp on the Inka sightseen and control point of Piruchayoc, witch has an amazing overview of the Soccma valley, Maras plateau and Chicon snow capped mountain. Camp altitude: 2,900 mts
Distance hike: 7 kilometers up hill. 5-6 hours of hike.

From Cusco to Pomatales bridge (1 hour and half)
From Urubamba to Pomatales bridge (half hour)

DAY 2:
Piruchayoc- Chancachuco

After the breakfast we start to walk following an Inka water channel, the trail goes up to Ccorimarca valley through ancient terraces where the locals still growing corps. We hike up to our first pass from where we have an amazing view of the snow peaks of Urubamba range. After a break an our snack we continue to the east trough the small valley of Chancachuco, where at the beginning we have lunch next to the Andean lake of Maracocha the one feeds water into the stream of Chancachuco through a 18 kilometers long Inka water channel. In this point we have the opportunity to see Andean birdlife as Andean goose, Cara cara, and the Andean flicker.

After a rest and our picnic lunch we continue down hill until our next campsite with a spectacular view of the snow pick Huayanay, the one is loctaed in Vilcamaba range (North). (Full meals).

Camp altitude: 3, 800 mts. First pass altitude: 4,200 mts.
Distance hike from Camp 1 to the pass: 5 kms. 4 hours of hike.
Distance from pass to the camp 2: 4 kms. 2 hours of hike

DAY 3:
Chancachuco -Cachiccata Quarry and Community Camp

We start trekking to the second pass over the Apu Buena negra, from where we have a spectacular overview of the sacred Valley of the Incas and the snow peaks of the Urubamba range. From the pass we hike down hill following the trail until join the Inca water channel witch is coming from Maracocha Lake after 18 kms of cliffs and suspended passes. From here we reach the temple call Intiwatana. We also have a great view of Pakaritampu pyramid.

Then we continue down hill to Choquetacarpo, an archeological site where we have lunch. After it we will walk down hill to visit one of the biggest Inca quarry in Cusco, witch supply stones for the town and fortress of Ollantaytambo. In the quarry of Cachiccata is possibly to see the process of cutting and carving the stone before to transport it to Ollantaytambo, slide the hill and cross the river in the way to reach the fortress. Walking down to our next campsite we will meet many Inca remains as water channels, terraces, trails and tombs.

We will camp this night at a nice campsite owned by a local group of young local people from Cachiccata community. From here we can enjoy a view of the community, Ollantaytambo and Veronica snow capped mountain. Camp (Full Meals)

Distance hike: 8 kms / 7 hours

DAY 4:
Transfer to Ollantaytambo Train Station – Machu Picchu.

IntiwatanaOptional: Early hike around the community and transfer to Ollantaytambo train station to take the train to Aguas Calientes. We will visit the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. Guided tour. At afternoon the train goes back to Cusco from the Aguas Calientes train station.
